RM partners with iChemLabs to make chemistry assessments more authentic

Milton, Abingdon, OXON, October 23, 2025

RM Assessment is pleased to announce the integration of iChemLabs’ ChemDoodle® Web Components into RM Ava®, our adaptive virtual accreditation platform.

RM currently helps customers deliver online exams across subjects including maths, languages, and science to millions of students globally.

Integrating ChemDoodle into RM Ava will make the online science exam experience even better for future cohorts. Students will be able to draw chemical structures, equations, and reactions directly within their digital exam. Questions can be more interactive and responses more accurate, improving both the candidate experience and the way practical and visual chemistry knowledge is assessed.

ChemDoodle Web Components is a leading software toolkit for drawing, visualising and editing chemical structures. It is used by many organisations to create interactive chemistry interfaces within their products. Bringing this capability into RM Ava represents a major step forward in how science assessments are delivered online.

Andrew Inganni, Head of Product Management, said, “We are really excited to be working with iChemLabs, allowing us to move forward with our ambitions of a better test experience as we explore some of the subjects more difficult to assess digitally.”

Kevin Theisen, President of iChemLabs, said, “RM’s products and services are incredibly innovative. iChemLabs’ partnership with RM will lead to superior experiences and results for the assessors and students seeking the latest and most intuitive tools for digital learning. We are proud to have ChemDoodle tools integrated into RM’s platform.”
